Regulations specify that the nearside and offside front door windows, for which the driver uses for forward vision and when using external rear facing mirrors, must permit a light transmittance value of at least 70% (for motor vehicles first used on or after 1st April 1985), with the front windscreen permitting a light transmittance value of 75%.
Failure to comply with these regulations will result in the vehicle being unroadworthy therefore likely voiding any insurance on the vehicle. Due to this we as a business will not supply or install window film to a vehicle which goes against these regulations. Rear windows however do not have a limit on how much light they must let through/how dark the tint can be.
The law in the UK requires the front windscreen of a road used vehicle to allow 75% VLT (light) to pass through this means that you can often tint a windscreen but only with specialist films such as chameleon due to its specific structure allowing maximum light to transmit through. This is on an individual basis and each vehicle would need to be checked to meet requirements as every window from factory will have a level of tint.
The darkest film also known as “limo” is 5% tint. This means it only lets 5% of light through meaning it is very difficult to see through.
Basic tint films will only offer very slight heat rejection where as a ceramic based film will block out significantly more heat and also offers protection from UV Rays!
This is because some vehicles require more work than others to install the films. In some cases parts of the car will need to be removed to access the full window to ensure a quality finish.
Detailing is more expensive because it is safer, more in depth and takes longer. We also use premium products to care for your vehicle. We use specialist tools to remove dirt from the vehicle without causing swirl marks or micro scratches to the paint work unlike cheaper car washes. These all contribute towards a far superior end result.
Paint correction is a process which involves polishing away micro layers of a vehicles clear coat to smooth out the surface so that any swirls, bird dropping marks or scratches are no longer visible. This gives the vehicle a showroom finish (sometimes better than!) and will increase the vehicles value. These finishes are reached by using a unique combination of pads and compounds along with specialist knowledge and tools.
Wax applied to a vehicle creates a buffer against some contaminates to help prevent paint damage and also creates a deeper richer shine to the paint by reducing some of the effects of paint defects such as swirls.
